Ways of Treating Halitosis

Halitosis is a problem that may be embarrassing to have, but it’s also a condition that can easily be treated and prevented. If you want to know how to avoid bad breath if you’ve experienced it in the past, or want to know how you can maintain clean, fresh breath all day, there are several ways of that you can do in your daily routine to prevent bad breath from bacterial buildup.

Halitosis, or bad breath, is caused by the buildup of bacteria in the mouth. This bacteria could be in certain cavities of the mouth that may be hard to reach with a toothbrush or floss, the roof of the mouth, or the gums. In order to rid the mouth of these harmful bacteria, it is important to keep the mouth clean throughout the day. This means that you should brush your teeth after every meal (you may have to take a toothbrush to work or school with you), as well as floss at least once a day. These practices are especially important if you have had dental work done (i.e. braces, crowns) since it is easy for food particles to get stuck between the teeth.

Making sure that you are consuming a diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables in order to prevent bad breath as well. The high water content in fresh fruits and vegetables will help you to clean bacteria and germs from the mouth, and since the vitamins and minerals in fresh, raw foods is good for your body, your organs will begin to function more efficiently (sometimes poor kidney or liver function can be the cause of halitosis). Using a mouthwash with an antiseptic is also a good way of treating halitosis, so you should make sure that you use the mouthwash both before and after brushing.
